Clarence is a step dad to 2 feral cats that my wife Sandy brought home. There are several things in this painting that refer to MY step
dad Gust including his watch he was wearing when he died and the approximate time. The pewter vase on the table is something I
received as a wedding gift that he was very fond of and even asked me to give it to him if I ever tired of it. Carnations were his favorite
flower. The carnations in this painting have died which is symbolic. A vase is symbolic to nourishment when being poured and
obviously this one isn't. Gust and my Grandpa built the bookshelf you see in the background. The letter in the typewriter is symbolic to
what I would say to him if I could. The vase on the bookshelf is one my Mother made in ceramics class while he was alive. Lastly is the
Bible. The story of "Our Father" which Gust spent many hours reading. Now You Know.
